sunset, unedited

I want to share a few shots from yesterday's evening walk at the beach. I skipped out on my typical viewing of Jeopardy! in favor of the sunset, and I think it was a good choice. Normally I don't share photos that I haven't edited yet, but sometimes you just can't improve on nature.

"The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

Hymn of Promise

Thanks to a friend's facebook status this morning, this song has been in my head all day. It's one of my favorite hymns, and it seems to have inspired my latest Etsy listings, too. :)

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree;
In cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be,
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody;
There’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery,
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity;
In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity,
In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory,
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

A Grand Ole Time in Point Clear, Alabama

Well, I've successfully survived a hurricane AND taken my first trip to Saint Louis to see some dear friends, but I want to take a moment to show you something I did right before all that. Alex and I spent a lovely weekend in Point Clear, Alabama and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel. This place just oozes with deep South charm. I tried to capture some of it on a leisurely, solitary photo walk while my husband sat by the pool. These two shots have been added to my etsy shop already, and I have a feeling that more are on their way. :)
